All the planning, anticipation, excitement, and all other emotions have come to a head. After some sleeping pills and an eight hour flight we are finally here. We are five hours ahead in London and so the only sleeping we had within 48 hours was the sleeping we had on the plane. Our flight was very rough due to the turbulence. Once we landed in London, went through customs, and gathered all our luggage (all three suitcases per person) we rode the train into Kingston which is a suburb on the outskirt of London. Customs has become very strict on letting missionaries into the country. Josh and I were questioned quite a bit as to why we were coming to London and why we were here less than a year ago. With Josh being sly with his wording, we got through.
Tonight we made bacon and put it on a bun to take to the University and hand out to the students who were drunk from clubbing. This was not necessarily to witness to the students, but to begin building relationships with them, inviting them to church, and serving them. It's such a neat experience to serve them when there is absolutely nothing we get in return for it. The drinking population in London is huge. The streets are dead during the day compared to what they are at night when people begin clubbing and going to the pubs.
There is quite a bit on our agenda for the week and I am excited to dive in and see how God is going to use us. Here are a few things you can be praying for while we are here.
1. Open opportunities for us to share our faith
2. Unification for out team
3. Well rested nights to reenergize us
4. To continually be servants even when our body is run down
5. Safety for the team
Holy Cow! What would have happened if you guys hadn't made it through customs??? That is crazy. I would have been so scared! Could you have gone to jail?
